Apartament IUGE

Located on the 13th floor of a collective dwelling from a dense Bucharest neighborhood, the main challenge of designing this apartment was creating a light living arrangement in 60m² using only furnishing solutions. The living area had to accommodate a kitchen, dining, TV and storage units, while also providing access to other rooms. A multifunctional-storage-wall that links the space from the entrance to the terrace was created in order to provide all the functions needed: console unit, dressing, storage, a built-in vertical laundry, TV unit and finally, the kitchen. The materials used were selected so that a warm contemporary look & feel complements the space. For the main bedroom, the natural wood and blue color accents were adjoined by the Houndstooth bed tapestry and the concrete feel of the walls. Elevating the bed on a platform creates more space around it when eliminating the window sills. All the windows have black shutters that occupy less space and provide a dynamic lighting control. For the apartment’s office room, a blue bookshelf and elevated wood desk provide just the space needed to work from home, while also providing additional storage space and an expandable armchair in the same room. In the end, the main win for this apartment was the ability to create more usable space through genuine furnishing solutions that together with beautiful materials create a contemporary living space, tailored perfectly for a young couple.
