Mugshot is a specialty coffee and fine drinks shop located in the Icoanei-Ioanid area of Bucharest. Through the envisioned spatial experience, the space aims to activate the neighborhood and the surrounding area. In this way, ‘Mugshot at DJ Superstore’ joins other businesses in the area and contributes to promoting a vibrant part of the city and strengthening the small local commerce.
The interior space is designed to bring together a small community of people who love taste and beauty and who live or pass through this area. Thus, in the center of the space, there is a long wooden table around which people gather who, although they did not come together, can share the experience of a good taste. Complementarily, there is also a comfortable discussion area furnished with a long sofa and comfortable armchairs. The space is tailored to the neighborhood in which it was created, with the clear goal of offering people who come an authentic experience that activates a micro-community around it.
The proposed materials stem from the effervescence of the area but also from the story of a historic neighborhood where successive layers of construction are laid upon each other over time. There is a wall that exposes the apparent brick, part of the original wall of the house. This becomes a background for the solid wood countertop, metal elements, plywood furniture, stainless steel pieces, and colors that make up the atmosphere of this space that is intended to be part of the neighborhood.
